Student experiences

For seven years, I had dreamed of an opportunity to study at Palacký University in Olomouc and that year my dream came true," says Jítka, graduate of the Czech for Foreigners programme. "I really enjoyed the course. We discussed not only the Czech language but also different cultures and lifestyles. During lessons, we practised grammar and expanded our vocabulary. But we didn't just stick to the textbook. We also had space for presentations, debates, and language games.

I chose a joint-degree programme because it allowed for a broad experience with opportunity to study at multiple universities in Europe," says Kornélie Gatica, a Euroculture graduate. "I spent my study semesters between Strasbourg and Olomouc. What surprised me the most was the teaching approach. We were encouraged to actively share our opinions. We debated a lot, worked on projects, and I grew to be more confident with my presentation skills.

I wanted more than just a degree. I wanted real experiences, cultural insight, and academic growth across countries," says Nadine Moharram, GLODEP graduate. "I learned how to navigate different administrative systems, studied topics like feminist movements in Egypt for my thesis, and grew in confidence with every step," tells Nadine. "Being surrounded by classmates from 19 countries enriched every lecture and discussion.

When I visited [Palacký University] for International Teaching Week in 2023, I had a great experience, both personally and academically... I looked around and realised how much I liked it here. It just felt right," says Itai Har-Nir, a PhD student at the Faculty of Physical Culture. "I feel that I have become much more independent. Everyone at the faculty supports me - when I say I want to do something, they trust me and give me the freedom to initiate and lead my own research projects.

I've always dreamt of becoming a teacher. That is also a profession that's highly valued in my family," tells Zisu, 2nd year Master's student at the Faculty of Education. "In my studies, I draw upon my diverse cultural background to create a new safe educational environment perfect for children's growth. On this journey, our teachers are always there to suppor us with genuine and responsible advice.

"I chose DIGISOC for its interdisciplinary nature and how it allows us to connect digitalization with meaningful social impact," says Andy Li, 1st year European Joint Master student at the Faculty of Law. "I really appreciate the strong international aspect and mobility opportunities made possible by Aurora alliance, where my studies are not limited to one place because I can get the opportunities to also study in universities at different countries within the alliance," tells Andy.

Medicine is the subject I have always dreamt of studying. Even after 4 years, I am still surprised as we learn more about how a human body functions." says Derek, 4th year General Medicine student. "We have a rich programme, still among all the subjects, physiology is my favourite. Resilience and adaptivity of human body to the external environment never ceases to amaze me," expresses the medical student.

The International and European Law Master's programme has truly become a platform for my professional and personal growth," says Varvara, 2nd year Master's student at the Faculty of Law. "Two years of studies have been very bright and highly effective: I have polished my legal argumentation skills, participated in Model United Nations and mock trials, and learned how to apply the law to current global cases.

I imagine my future-self relieving a patient's pain and going home feeling fulfilled, that feeling drove me to study physiotherapy," says Moktan, 3rd year Physiotherapy student. "What surprised me the most about the programme was the openness of the education system. Here, the relationship between the teacher and students feels more transparent and collegial. It's like a partnership where you can communicate openly, share ideas and learn in a more supportive environment.
